Arise, Shine (Isaiah 60:1-5)
The glory of God is upon us and the light within us radiates and attracts others to us. As the prodigal son finally came to his senses, rose up and returned to his father (Luke 15:20), so we should leave behind the past, and arise for the glory of God is upon us.
Forget the past (Isaiah 43:18-19)
The Year of New Beginnings (2020) has brought us into the Year of Lights (2021) and God is doing a new thing. Let go of the past, learn to apologise and forgive all wrongs sincerely and unconditionally, so the light upon us will shine in all areas of our lives.
Focus on Christ (Hebrews 12:1-2)
Keep our eyes focused on Christ, and be wary of associations that might derail us from the good race. Focusing on Christ distinguishes us from the world and brings the awareness that the solution to our problems lies in the Word of God and not worldly counsellors. The Holy Spirit and the Word provides the solutions that we can articulate with boldness (Isaiah 59:21).
Be living testimonies and witnesses to the world (Matthew 5:13-15)
We should not be like salt that has lost its taste and has no purpose, rather as “… the light of the world...” we should be positive witnesses to others. Attracting them to Christ by our conduct and communicating Christ with boldness.
One body in Christ (1 Corinthians 12)
Each individual has a role to play in the body of Christ. When individuals unite as one, the force of the light that emanates from this united body will glorify God abundantly.
Arise, shine and let your light shine through the darkness that covers the world.
